The new investors who acquired stakes in the US entity of TikTok already paid a $2.5 billion fee to the administration when the deal closed in January, but <em>WSJ<\/em>&#8216;s latest report noted that the group of investors would continue to make payments until the total hits $10 billion.<\/p>\n<p>After a group of investors, which includes Oracle along with the <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:3;pos:1\" class=\"no-affiliate-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/ea-confirms-it-will-go-private-in-55-billion-acquisition-133841614.html\">Silver Lake<\/a> and MGX investment firms, acquired stakes in the US-based TikTok entity called TikTok USDS Joint Venture, the <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:4;pos:1\" class=\"no-affiliate-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/business\/deals\/u-s-government-expected-to-get-multibillion-dollar-fee-in-tiktok-deal-685e3944\"><em>WSJ<\/em><\/a> previously reported that the administration would receive a &#8220;multibillion-dollar fee&#8221; for its work on the deal. To better contextualize the recently-revealed $10 billion fee the Trump administration is receiving, the US entity of TikTok was valued at $14 billion by Vice President JD Vance.<\/p>\n<p><span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Trump administration has previously involved itself in major deals with other US corporations. Last year, the administration invested <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:5;pos:1\" class=\"no-affiliate-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/big-tech\/trumps-administration-may-look-to-buy-a-stake-in-intel-213234862.html\">$8.9 billion<\/a> into Intel and received a nearly 9 percent equity stake.
